Kailasagiri is a hilltop park in the city of Visakhapatnam. The park was developed by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) comprising 380 acres (150 ha) of land covered with flora and tropical trees. The hill, at 360 feet (110 m), overlooks beaches, forests, and the city of Visakhapatnam.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh awarded Kailasagiri as "Best Tourist Spot" in 2003. On average, around three lakh Indian and foreign tourists visit this spot every year. To protect the environment, VUDA has declared the hill a plastic-free zone.
Kailasa giri is located on a hilltop and is a must to visiting place for all people visiting Vishakhapatnam. It is one of the prominent hill top parks with panoramic sea view on the East Coast. This has developed as an attractive picnic spot, with the seven different beautiful view points to enjoy the serene atomosphere and scenic beauty. One more new attraction is the toy train operating at the top of this hill top park. This train takes a circular tour of this garden at the hill top. This train journey of 20 minutes duration costs Rs 40/- for adult and Rs 30 for kids below the age of 10 years. The compartments are fitted with transparent glass at the top ( roof ) and at side. Within the compartments clear view is available from any location. Tickets are issued at the platform and seat number is allotted at the time of buying the ticket. The compartments became hot during noon time because of hot sun rays passing through the transparent roof. Winter it will be comfortable. Take a seat at left side if possible.
